Hocus Crocus

Wow time sure flies when you are having fun!  I can't believe its been so long since I even turned my computer on.  I blame it on the weather.  Who wants to be in the house working on a computer when the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the forest is calling to you.

Today the second batch of crocuses were peaking through so I took the opportunity to snap a picture of them.  I wish I would have thought of that last week when the first ones came through, they were purple and so much more photogenic then these ones.

Today was a pretty nice day.  Did I say pretty nice?  What I meant to say was spectacular.  These are the kind of days I live for.  I spent a few hours this morning trail building, then a few hours trying to clean out the spare mess until it became the spare room again.  You see, a couple more days and my daughter will be here, so I was forced into making the mess into a livable space for her.  After all, she is my most favouritest of all people living on this planet.  She is smart, loving, determined, and just a beautiful all around person.  Every day I am so thankful that this wonderful person is my progeny.

Thinking of her this afternoon and how wonderful a human being she is actually got me thinking about my whole family and I came to the conclusion that I really have been granted an amazing family in this life.  My hubby continues to astonish me every single day with his abilities, there is almost nothing in the world which he cannot do and excel at.  You my dear reader may be thinking that I am exaggerating, I can assure you that I am not.  A good friend of mine received a book one Xmas which was designed to make a person think about the choices we make in our lives.  One of the tasks in the book was to come up with a list of seven people who you would want to be in your group if you were stranded on a deserted island.  Besides myself, everyone in the room picked hubby as the number one person.  We figured that given a month or two and the island would be transformed into paradise by his abilities alone.

The thing that astounds me though isn't that I have a couple of amazing people in my family, but a whole raft of these incredible human beings.  My brothers are smart, talented and genuinely nice people.  My son in law is a fantastic person, I love his devotion to his wife and children.  IMHO that trait happens to be the most important aspect of a good man.  And believe me, he passes with flying colours.  I have met many, many men in my working career, and those people who I still call friend and stay in touch with all placed their families first.  Nothing earns my respect more than that.  My sister in law is in the last year of a super tough course and is single mindedly pursuing her dream, how cool is that?

Now normally I'm not the type to get all mushy about people or things so this is a little out there for me.  I don't know if its the day and all the possibilities it held for me but I just felt like gushing.  Maybe its just taken a few decades to finally get past my reserve, maybe I will feel the need to gush again in the future.  You never know.
