Sooo...This Is What It Looks Like So Far

My living room with hardwood floors. All I need now is a new sofa and to do a couple of paintings for the wall.  I also have my eye on a couple of bookshelves on Kijiji.

Looking into the living room from the kitchen.  Cabinets should be arriving in a few weeks.  I can hardly wait.

The temporary island we made from old counters.

Looking from the fireplace into the kitchen.

My poor ankle, even my toes are swelling.  Ask me how many times I've sprained my ankle in my life?  Probably in the hundreds by now.

  1. Jeez Laweeze I can hardly recognize the place. Although I must say that to my taste that fireplace wants to be flanked by bookshelves (then again that may be part of the plan).

Looking good so far. And let's hear it for a colour scheme that does not hearken back to...well...whenever the hell it was that old colour scheme was from (I'm guessing some year in an alternate timeline).

  2. The jury is still out on the bookshelves flanking the fireplace, I'm not sure if I want it to disappear into the scenary. So the bookshelves may end up flanking the doorway into the kitchen. I will have to see what it looks like in real time.

If you are looking for an accurate time on the old colour scheme I just call it circa Partridge Family.

  3. I get the idea of wanting the fireplace to be a thing but at the moment the flanking stuff is too stark (trust me I'm a design professional). At the very least it needs to be flanked by *something*. Maybe Art would do the trick...but it'd have to be bold art (or at the very least sizeable).

Yes...I have no idea why I'm going on about it but that's how I give advice nowadays...only when I *react* to something. And that wall wants something to balance the quite bold fireplace.

  4. Oh I completely agree with you, I even have a few paintings in mind...I just need to a)have the time to paint, b)buy a couple of canvasses, and c)have a place to paint. I was looking at one piece (in old pictures) which I brought with me from out west, and I think it will go good on the big wall, so I may use that as a jumping off point.
